curtinas and tile - may 16

this week we did a trip to the tile place, the fabric place and the kitchen counter place ...

figured out that to do the room (after knocking out the wall between the kitchen and the dinning area ... the whole thing is 40 ft by 19.2 ft ... a lot of tile ... and so we figure we better pick it first to get the rest of the thing to work together

the tile ... should I do all creamy white ... found one that looks like cream paper that you crinkled up and then ironed flat ... very fine but likely to show every bit of dirt known and make Stephen insane trying to keep clean ... it is number one of the list ...

the curtains ... so we now have holes in the curtains because the sun has done in the cotton ...this makes the curtains a pressing project as summer heats up ... I have patched them for now ... so Victoria and I go to fabric heaven ... whole sale only ... and start looking ... I finally find one that is "indoor/outdoor" sun blocking, linen and silk blend and best of all shaded on each panel in a top to bottom gradation which starts cream at the top and goes to a pale "Georgia O'Keeffe" grey and the bottom ... it looks like hand painted silk in a sort of pale Monet way ... all the time I am gaga over this panel, Victoria is pressing her had to her forehead ... I am thinking how much can it be ... due to the window size the panel size and to get the fullness I want ... in a blink I figure I need at least 16 panels ... Victoria is still not suggesting a price but the staff is studying me to figure out if I am serious and as we are walking out Victoria show me the price tage .... each panel is $750 ...

so now I have fallen in love with a tile Stephen would not be happy about (when I think of how long it took me to persuade him that I would take care of the white carpet I get very tired) ... plus now a curtain fabric that I can not even imagine buying...

we did not go to the last place as I was exhasted by what I could not have

Victoria has promised to show me other things next week that I will love ... and we can perhaps afford ... we are going to see some houses she has worked on and she swears are not decorated in any kind of black velvet and Bat themes ...

did find some nice cabinetts this week ... at Lowes of all places ... easier than IKEA and better made ... so some progress was made but not much ...

the bathroom tile is done finally and on the last day the guys broke the garage door opener springs ... so next week is a visit from them agian ... they might as well move in with the amount of time the spend around here ...

  1. Sorry about the fabric. I wonder if there is a web site to comparison shop fabric the we can yarn? That is plug in fibre type, necessary finish etc.. and see what similar fabric exists.
If that tile has that crinkle look shouldn't that help to obscure dirt?
